Common pitfalls

SPC is direction-blind: benefit and cost criteria are treated identically, because Eqs. (1) to (6) never read the direction.
- •
A constant criterion column yields q_j = 0 and therefore zero weight.
- •
Because r_ij divides by x_ij, criteria measured on very large scales get small moduli; SPC is a ratio-scale method and needs strictly positive data.
- •
The seminal paper defines a fuzzy SPC as future work; no fuzzy SPC is implemented here.
